Pele’s Tantrum
Sterling Silver, Kilauea Limu O' Pele, Citrine
While on a cruise ship sailing around the Big Island of Hawaii, Kilauea was spewing lava into the sea. The lava hitting the salt water resulted in fine glass flakes flying into the air. Some of this "Limu", found its way onto our ship and I was able to bring some of it back and encase it in resin to preserve it's rare form. The largest piece I collected went into this piece called Pele's Tantrum.
Pele, goddess of fire, is a dynamic and tumultuous woman. Strong willed and seductive she causes strife with her sister and her own family but she is intensely loyal to her island.
